    Polar Plunge Update

Sporting Business Professional Attire, although not required, is a great way to support the School of Business.

Hello UW MBA Polar Plunge Team:

As we are gearing up for the Madison Polar Plunge, I have some information about the plunge for everyone.

    Pre-Registration and Registration

All of you have done a great job raising money in support of your courageous plunge in to the frigid Waters of Lake Monona.  You have an opportunity to bypass the long registration lines, and turn in any pledges that you have collected offline and collect your goodies by going to one of the PRE-REGISTRATION sites listed below.

    Buffalo Wild Wings (529 State St) – Wednesday, Feb. 18, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

    The Coliseum Bar (232 E. Olin Ave) – Thursday, Feb. 19, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.  OR  Friday, Feb. 20, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

If you are unable to pre-register, you can register the day of the plunge at the jump site. Please arrive by 12:30pm at Olin-Turvile Park if your are registering the day of the Plunge.

    What to bring when Registering?

    ·         Picture ID

    ·         Any money you have raised in the form of cash or checks

    ·         Print out your online pledge records and bring them with you when you check in for the Plunge

    ·         You will need to sign a release form. These forms will be provided at the registration sites.

    DAY OF THE PLUNGE

Location: Olin-Turville Park – ( 1101 Turville Drive, Madison WI 53713) It is a park that backs up to Lake Monona.

    Date: Saturday, February 21, 2009

Jump Time: 1:10pm – please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the jump time.

Transportation: There is a free shuttle from the Memorial Union that will take you to the jump site. The current plan is to meet at Grainger Hall at 11:00am and we will walk over to Memorial Union to catch the 11:15/11:20am Shuttle.

    Plunge Parking

If you wish to drive over to the Plunge you can park at the Alliant Energy Center [1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, Madison] (pay at entrance) or the Coliseum Bar (232 E. Olin Ave, Madison WI)

    Suggestions of what to bring:

    ·         A towel. Towels are one of the incentive items, but all Plungers are encouraged to bring their own in case we run out or you don’t reach that incentive level.

    ·         Old Shoes/flip flops/aquatic shoes. You will have to walk out on the ice and sometimes wait a moment for others to jump so please bring and wear an old pair of shoes that you won’t mind getting wet as well as dry replacement shoes.

    ·         Duffel Bag/Backpack/garbage bag (to keep wet separate from dry). It’s a good idea to bring a bag with you for dry clothes and to put wet clothes when you are done Plunging.

    ·         Dry replacement clothes. After you’re done Plunging it is nice to have some dry/warm replacement clothes for the journey home.

    ·         Wear shoes when you Plunge - It is required that Plungers wear shoes. We recommend tennis shoes, water shoes or sandals that strap to your feet. That way you keep your feet from freezing as you wait for your turn and you won’t lose your shoes in the water.

     AFTER THE PLUNGE

    ·         After the Plunge join us across the street at the Coliseum Bar (232 E. Olin Ave, Madison, WI) for food and adult beverages.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. GREAT JOB TEAM!!!
